Spring 2016

As a means of exploring form and texture in a considered manner, these pieces were designed to have parts that connect and meet in a sliding motion. The object as a whole is meant to display other pieces. For example, a user can display a candle or a small bowl on the circular tracking piece. The object also utilizes various materials as a means of experimenting with different composites to find the appropriate place and use for each one. The base piece is made from cast rosin with loose cork embedded into it and the circular piece is made from mycelium, a mushroom root material.

This presentation object is part of a collection of biodegradable objects as a reaction to "fast" furniture, or furniture that is made quickly and cheaply and often loaded with detrimental chemicals.
